I'm frequently approached by bloggers who want to know the secret to getting more traffic to their blogs. The secret is that there is no one magical way to get more traffic. Of course there are myriad ways you can promote your blog and get traffic that way, but let's be honest: Promotion takes time and there's only so much time in a day. Plus, when you write your next blog post, you're going to have less time to promote the previous post... it's a vicious cycle.
The closest thing I've found to traffic magic in the blogging world comes in the form of SEO.
When you combine quality well-written content with SEO strategies, the search engines will start sending organic traffic to your blog.
Organic traffic is the holy grail of blog traffic because it's traffic specifically looking for the content you have written. You have to do a lot of work up front, but then it's more-or-less a hands-off process.
If you want to get more traffic to your blog, you have to understand the basics of SEO.
Introduction to SEO will teach you everything you need to know to start optimizing your blog posts for search engines, which will eventually lead to more search traffic heading to your site.
We will cover on-page SEO tactics like what should go into a well-written SEO-optimized post and how, if you're using Wordpress, you should be using Yoast to reinforce your SEO efforts. We will talk about off-page SEO tactics like how to get backlinks to your site without doing anything Google deems to be bad. We will also go through the functions of Google Search Console that will most help you in your SEO efforts, among the many other topics covered in this course.
This class is for you if you...
• Promote your blogs nonstop via social media but aren't getting much or any traffic from search engines
• Are new to blogging and want to make sure you're on Google's radar from the very beginning
• Aren't really sure what a keyword is and/or how to do keyword research
• Have never heard of Google Search Console
• Want to be ranked on the first page of Google's search result pages
Introduction to SEO for Bloggers will help you rock all of these categories... and so much more!
I'm not going to lie: There's a TON of stuff that goes into SEO and it can be confusing to figure out what, exactly, you need to do or even how to get started.
I assure you, though, that when you break SEO down piece by piece, it's really not bad. In fact, it's very similar to a puzzle. There are so many little things you need to do to make the entire SEO picture come together.
And, when it does come together?
The results can be magical... assuming your idea of magic, like mine, is continuous organic blog traffic being directed to your blog by the search engine gods.
